Teddybear: I Write Like I’m Writing for Myself

For Teddybear, everything starts with one simple idea: never lose sight of why he began making music. Even when a song becomes deeply personal, or when he wonders whether he should really share it, the artist says he still wants to write first and foremost for himself.

Speaking on stage at Les Solidarités, Teddybear also had a few surprises in store for the audience. Among them was his grandmother Mich Mich, as well as François Damiens, who plays the hairdresser in the music video for Chaussures roses. The partnership did not stop at the clip: Teddybear even inspired the comedian for one of his hidden-camera pranks.

What lies ahead looks equally personal. The artist is currently working on his debut album, a project in which he intends to reveal his view of life. It is, he says, the perspective of a man in his twenties who does not necessarily feel in step with his times and still has plenty to say.

For that album, Teddybear promises one thing: he has put his whole heart into it.
