After more than two decades in the music business, experience has not made the nerves disappear. Before going on stage, Girls in Hawaii still feel that familiar pressure, including the fear of making a mistake. Within the group, Bryan, the drummer, is said to be the one who gets the most stressed.
But the break has clearly done them good. Girls in Hawaii are back with Eldorado, their fifth album, due for release on 25 September. It marks a new chapter for a band that, even after more than 20 years, says creativity is never entirely guaranteed.
The group also admits that writer’s block remains part of the process. “Ça fait 20 ans qu’on est confrontés au syndrome de la page blanche,” (We’ve been dealing with writer’s block for 20 years) the source said of the band’s experience, underlining that the urge to create has remained intact across two decades of music-making.
Girls in Hawaii are also due on stage this evening at the Solidarités festival, where they are scheduled to perform at 10.25pm.
