Oasis fans outraged as hotels increase room rates by eightfold for upcoming gigs

Hotels were accused of price gouging during the band’s reunion gigs, with room rates increasing to up to eight times the normal cost. Within five minutes of the first gig at Cardiff being announced, a Marriott Bonvoy hotel close to the venue was advertising rooms for £899 a night as opposed to its usual rate of £120. A Holiday Inn near Wembley has gone from a normal rate of £195 a night to £594, and in Manchester, a room in a V Lodge hotel near Heaton Park will cost £728 for just a single night. Dublin prices also soared, with one three-star hotel charging £350 for a one-bed room. Fans expressed outrage on social media, with one fan complaining about the rip-off before tickets were even on sale, and another fan joking about Network Rail planning engineering works around the gig dates to “screw up everyone’s travel.”

Steve Eaton said on X: “Hotel prices in Cardiff for the @oasis nights are now 7 to 8 times the regular price in places. Insane that they can get away with this.”

A fan in Dublin who gambled and booked a hotel for two nights for £500 said: “In a move tempting fate, I booked a hotel lovely hotel for 500 total. Few mins later 95 per cent of places unavailable or £1000+.”

Another wrote: “Unbelievable how all the hotels are charging up to five times what they normally do or are sold out.”
