Rod, 79, previously exclusively told The Sun how “my days are numbered but I have no fear” just weeks before he was struck down with the “summer” strain of the bug.

A message posted to social media on Friday read: We regret to announce that tonight’s Rod Stewart concert in Stateline, NV, and his August 10 show in Lincoln, CA, have been postponed as the singer recovers from a summer strain of Covid-19.

“The Lincoln, CA concert at Thunder Valley Casino will now be on August 18 and his concert at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey’s in Stateline NV, concert will now be August 20

“Ticket holders should hold onto their tickets as they will be honoured for the rescheduled shows.”

Fans were quick to react, with many wishing him well.

One wrote: “Get well soon @sirrodstewart. Love You FOREVER.”

A second put: “Get well soon, Sir Rod. Your health is more important,” as a third wrote: “Feel better soon buddy . Zinc ,vit D and vit C every day to keep well.”

Yet some were left irked about the last-minute change.

A ticket-holder posted: “Hours before it starts is so unfair. Your team knew tonight wasn’t happening. Why announce so late?

“We drive from Sacramento, got hotel and other expenses. Very disappointed.”

One then moaned: “Second time going to his concert, only to have it canceled.

“Very frustrating to make plans, spend all the money getting there (that can’t be refunded) to have it cancelled again.”

The gigs come after he revealed he would be extending his Las Vegas residency.

The Do Ya Think I’m Sexy hitmaker announced a series of “encore” gigs in 2025 and said he is “having too fun for this to end.”

This summer, he took to the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for two weeks as part of his The Hits show.

He performed in front of a packed crowd from Wednesday, July 24, until Wednesday, August 7.

Yet now gig-goers will be able to see him next year, too.

Meanwhile, as he approaches his 80th birthday he told of his approach to life.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun from his home in Los Angeles, Rod said: “I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear.

“We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket.

“I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can.

“I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”

Rod insists he still “goes mad” on the booze after each show at his residency, and encourages his dancers and musicians to knock it back.

Rod said: “I’m not like I was in the ’70s and ’80s and I can’t stay up all night, get drunk and go mad and still have a voice just like that.

“Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show.

“The older you get, the more you have to do that. Water has a hell of a lot to do with it. But no, you think I just have water on my rider?

“You’re talking to Rod Stewart here, mate. We go mad after every show.

“There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians and I make them drink. We absolutely love it.”
