Claudia Winkleman bids an emotional farewell on BBC Radio 2 after 15 years
Popular TV presenter and broadcaster Claudia Winkleman left listeners in tears as she signed off from BBC Radio 2 for the final time on Saturday. After over 15 years on the station, Claudia decided to step down from her Saturday morning slot, taking over from the beloved Graham Norton in 2021.
In a heartfelt goodbye, Claudia expressed her gratitude to the listeners and the team at Radio 2, choking back tears as she bid farewell. She admitted to being nervous when taking over from Graham Norton but was overwhelmed by the warm welcome and support from the audience.
As she played Oasis’s classic hit Wonderwall as her final song, Claudia thanked the listeners for their support and asked them to welcome Romesh Ranganathan, who will be taking over her slot. Claudia explained her decision to leave the show in December, citing her desire to spend more time with her 17-year-old daughter, Matilda.
Despite her departure from BBC Radio 2, Claudia will soon be heading to Scotland to film the new series of The Traitors, which is set to air next year. Fans can expect to see more of Claudia on their screens in the future, but for now, her emotional farewell on the radio marks the end of an era for the beloved broadcaster.
