Arnav Bhalla, a student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, is making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged students in Northern Virginia. Recognizing the disparity in access to school supplies, Bhalla has partnered with the Manassas-based nonprofit House of Mercy to organize a back-to-school drive.
While many organizations focus on providing supplies for younger students, Bhalla understands the specific needs of high schoolers, such as backpacks and shoes. Through his GoFundMe fundraiser, Bhalla aims to collect essential supplies for 100 to 150 high school students in the area, with House of Mercy potentially assisting 500 to 600 families overall.
The initiative not only addresses the immediate need for school supplies but also highlights the importance of community support and giving back. Bhalla’s efforts serve as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a significant impact on those in need.
To contribute to the back-to-school drive, donations can be dropped off at House of Mercy’s thrift store in Manassas. The fundraiser will run until July 14, providing an opportunity for individuals to support students in underserved communities. Bhalla’s dedication to helping others exemplifies the spirit of generosity and compassion, inspiring others to make a difference in their communities.
