In a recent ranking by U.S. News and World Report, seven out of the top 10 Best Global Universities for the 2024-25 academic year are located in the United States. Surprisingly, two public universities in the U.S. have outperformed several prestigious Ivy League institutions.
Harvard University claimed the top spot as the No. 1 university in the world, followed closely by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University. The University of California Berkeley secured the fifth position, while the University of Washington Seattle made it to the eighth spot, surpassing Ivy League schools like Columbia and Yale.
Despite controversies surrounding college rankings and allegations of data manipulation, the University of Washington embraced its high ranking and expressed pride in being recognized among the world’s best research universities. President Ana Mari Cauce highlighted the university’s commitment to making a positive impact through its academic achievements.
In addition to the U.S. universities, three institutions from Great Britain also made it to the top 10 list. U.S. News and World Report evaluated 2,250 institutions from over 100 countries using 13 indicators to measure academic research performance and global reputation.
The rankings serve as a testament to the academic excellence and global impact of these top universities, showcasing their commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation on a global scale.
