Jamaican Scientist Dr Conrad Douglas Awarded Silver Musgrave Medal for Contributions to Science and Technology

One of Dr Douglas’s notable achievements was his role in re-engineering the preservation of the Jamaica-Ukraine alumina deal, ensuring the continued inflow of precious foreign exchange to the tune of US$35 million per annum. His innovative approach to making the Jamaican bauxite suitable for the Ukrainian processing system was instrumental in solving environmental and air pollution issues.

In addition to his work in industry, Dr Douglas has been actively involved in building a talent pool in science by providing scholarships, internships, and co-supervision of PhD students. His commitment to giving back to the community is evident through his contributions to scholarship programs and donations of laptops and science books to educational institutions in Jamaica.
