The hospital’s achievement is attributed to its commitment to serving a diverse patient population, with over 40% coming from communities facing socioeconomic challenges, 20% from racial/ethnic minorities, and 20% from Medicaid patients. NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst has implemented various initiatives to address the needs of these patients, including partnerships with community organizations to provide essential services such as legal aid, foster care, and food assistance.
