Dr. Singh: Science and Technology Department Launches ‘Traditional Knowledge Digital Library’ to Harness Our Unique Asset

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, emphasized the importance of Indian solutions and data for Indian innovations at the 6th National Convention of Vigyan Bharati (ViBha) held at MIT-ADT University in New Delhi. He highlighted the unique challenges faced by India due to its distinct spectrum and human phenotype, stressing the need for a tailored approach to scientific advancements.

Dr. Singh, a renowned Diabetologist, pointed out the high prevalence of metabolic diseases in India, attributing it to the country’s specific genetic makeup. He advocated for an integrated approach that combines traditional knowledge with modern medicine to address these health issues effectively.

The Minister also lauded the progress made in science and technology under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, citing the significant increase in startups and India’s improved ranking in global innovation indices. He highlighted the country’s achievements in the space and marine sectors, showcasing India’s potential to become a major player in the blue economy.

Dr. Singh commended Vigyan Bharati (ViBha) for its role in promoting Swadeshi Sciences and fostering a spirit of scientific inquiry rooted in Indian ethos. The convention was attended by prominent figures in the scientific community, including Dr. Satheesh Reddy, Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, and Dr. Shekhar Mande.

Overall, the event served as a platform for celebrating India’s scientific achievements and exploring new avenues for innovation and research.
