Neve Campbell to Return to Scream Franchise in Upcoming Scream 7
After a two-year hiatus due to a pay dispute, Neve Campbell has announced her return to the Scream franchise. The 50-year-old actress will reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming Scream 7.
Neve, who has played the heroine in every installment of the horror flicks, had previously pulled out of the seventh film in 2023 after feeling undervalued in the pay negotiations. The role was then passed on to Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega’s characters, Sam and Tara Carpenter, in the sixth movie.
However, behind-the-scenes chaos ensued when Melissa was dropped from the franchise over her pro-Palestine stance on social media, and Jenna soon followed suit, citing scheduling conflicts with her Netflix series Wednesday.
Fans were left wondering if Scream 7 would ever come to fruition, but Neve’s recent announcement has reignited excitement for the film. In a social media post, she expressed her joy at returning to the franchise and working with director Kevin Williamson, who penned the original 1996 movie.
Kevin, who also created Dawson’s Creek, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to direct the seventh installment of the franchise and reunite with Neve on screen.
The release date for Scream 7 has not been confirmed yet, but fans can expect to see Neve Campbell back in action as Sidney Prescott in the highly anticipated film.
