Mondelez invests $5 million in new innovation kitchen

Mondelez International, Inc. has taken a big step in the world of snacks with the opening of a new regional biscuit and baked snacks lab and innovation kitchen in Jurong, Singapore. The company has invested $5 million in this state-of-the-art facility, which is set to become a strategic center of excellence and regional hub for creative development and innovation in the biscuits and baked snacks category.

The Singapore Technical Centre, established by Mondelez in 2006, has been a key player in the company’s innovation and product development efforts. With the expansion of the facility in 2018 to include a focus on gum and candy categories, Mondelez has been able to leverage its expertise and technical capabilities in various areas such as product development, packaging, process technology development, consumer science, analytical science, ingredient research, and scientific and regulatory affairs.

Now, with the addition of the lab and innovation kitchen, Mondelez is looking to take its mission of creating the perfect snack for every moment to the next level. The company aims to develop products that promote portion control and mindful indulgence, while also exploring new flavors and product formats.

Deepak Iyer, executive vice president and president, AMEA, Mondelez, expressed his excitement about the new facility, stating, “At Mondelez International, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of food innovation and product development. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to create a dynamic space where creative ideas can flourish and contribute to the development of new innovative products for our consumers. This expansion further enhances the capabilities of our Singapore Technical Centre and reaffirms our commitment and contribution to the country, which serves as the headquarters for our Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa business.”

With this new lab and innovation kitchen, Mondelez is poised to continue delighting consumers with innovative and delicious snacks for years to come.
