Police disband pro-Palestinian camp at Amsterdam university amidst campus protests in Europe

Pro-Palestinian protests have spread across Europe, with students occupying campuses and setting up encampments to demand action against Israel’s actions in Gaza. German police broke up a protest at Berlin’s Free University, while Dutch police arrested activists at the University of Amsterdam. Similar actions have taken place in Finland, Denmark, Italy, Spain, France, and Britain.

The protests have escalated, with police using pepper spray and force to clear the demonstrators. In Amsterdam, police used a mechanical digger to push down barricades and disperse protesters. The University of Amsterdam and other institutions have called for dialogue but have had to resort to police intervention to restore order.

In response to the war in Gaza, students are demanding that universities cut ties with Israeli institutions. Protests have been largely peaceful, but tensions have risen as authorities crack down on the demonstrations. The situation is evolving, with more protests planned in solidarity with Palestinians in various European cities.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation as students continue to push for action against Israel’s actions in Gaza. The protests highlight the growing support for the Palestinian cause among young people in Europe.
