Former Beck High School students in Greenville, SC, recently gathered to reflect on their experiences with integration in Greenville County Schools. As six Greenville County high schools were ranked among the top 25 best in South Carolina, these former students shared their thoughts on how integration impacted their education and lives.
The rankings, released by U.S. News & World Report, highlighted schools based on factors such as college readiness, state assessment proficiency, and underserved student performance. Among the top-ranked schools were Wade Hampton High School, Greenville Senior High School Academy, Riverside High School, Eastside High School, Mauldin High School, and J.L. Mann High School.
Former Beck High School students discussed how the process of integration affected them personally and academically. They shared stories of challenges they faced, as well as the positive outcomes they experienced as a result of attending integrated schools.
