Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks received a major boost in her campaign for the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate as Governor Wes Moore endorsed her at an event in Upper Marlboro. The endorsement, which came at a crucial time during the 2022 Democratic gubernatorial primary, has been seen as a significant factor in Alsobrooks’ campaign.
Since Alsobrooks’ endorsement of Moore last October, supporters have been eagerly awaiting his return to the campaign trail with her. With recent polls showing U.S. Rep. David Trone ahead in the race, Moore’s upcoming appearance at a fundraiser for Alsobrooks in Baltimore on April 30 is expected to reinvigorate her campaign.
The star-studded fundraiser will also feature U.S. Reps. Kweisi Mfume, Jamie Raskin, and John Sarbanes, as well as state Comptroller Brooke Lierman. Moore’s campaign chair, Craig Thompson, will also be among the hosts of the event.
Alsobrooks’ campaign strategists and supporters have hinted at more joint appearances with Moore leading up to the May 14 primary, and it is likely that Moore will also appear in a campaign ad in support of Alsobrooks.
The endorsement from Governor Moore, along with the upcoming fundraiser, is expected to give Alsobrooks’ campaign a much-needed boost as she faces tough competition in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. Supporters are hopeful that Moore’s support will help propel Alsobrooks to victory in the upcoming election.
