Nicole Scherzinger Shines at Olivier Awards with Best Actress Win
Success was laid out on a plait for singer Nicole Scherzinger at theatre’s Olivier Awards last night. The 45-year-old ex-Pussycat Dolls star took home the Best Actress in a Musical award for her outstanding performance in Sunset Boulevard.
Dressed in a stunning black gown with her hair styled in plaits, Nicole wowed the audience at the Royal Albert Hall in West London. She was joined by model Cara Delevingne, who is currently playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret, as well as Shirley Valentine star Sheridan Smith and host Hannah Waddingham.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, the man behind the music in Sunset Boulevard, praised Nicole’s vocal abilities, calling her “one of the finest singers I have worked with.” He expressed his excitement to work with her and the rest of the talented team on the show’s run at the Savoy Theatre.
Sunset Boulevard, based on the 1950 film of the same name, follows the story of Norma, a faded star of silent movies, as she seeks to reclaim her former glory. Nicole’s portrayal of the character has been widely acclaimed by critics and audiences alike.
After the Pussycat Dolls disbanded in 2010, Nicole embarked on a successful solo music career, achieving five UK top 10 singles. She made her West End debut in 2014 in the musical Cats and also performed at the Coronation Concert for King Charles last year.
Despite stiff competition, Nicole’s talent and dedication to her craft have once again been recognized with this prestigious award. Her star continues to rise, and fans can’t wait to see what she does next on stage and screen.
