The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are on high alert following a recent attack that saw a “handful” of ballistic missiles hitting Israel. The IDF spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, has stated that the IDF needs to be prepared for a potential new war front.
In an interview with Sky News, Lerner described the attack as a “very, very serious act against Israel” and emphasized the unity of various military forces in defending against the aggression. He stated that the IDF, along with the US, British, and French military, sent a clear message to Iran that such attacks will not be tolerated.
When asked if Israel would respond to the attack, Lerner indicated that the government would convene to make a decision on how to proceed. He stressed the importance of being prepared for any eventuality and maintaining high alert levels for aerial defenses.
While most of the ballistic missiles were intercepted, a seven-year-old girl was critically injured in the attack and is currently fighting for her life. Lerner expressed concern over Iran’s escalation in aggression towards Israel and the need to prevent further attacks on Israeli civilians.
Regarding the attack on Iran’s consulate in Syria, Lerner declined to comment, but emphasized the need to prevent future attempts to harm Israelis. The IDF remains vigilant and prepared for any potential threats as tensions continue to rise in the region.
