Job Opportunity: PhD Candidate in Mental Healthcare Provision at Norwegian University of Science & Technology – NTNU

NTNU Department of Public Health and Nursing is offering a temporary position as a PhD candidate in health services research. The project, “Sustainable Local Mental Health Care,” is a collaborative effort with NTNU, St. Olav’s University Hospital, and various national and international partners. The goal is to enhance understanding of effective mental health treatments in general practice in Norway.

The successful candidate will investigate the aftermath for patients facing rejected specialist care referrals and the role of GPs in such scenarios. Utilizing innovative quantitative approaches, the candidate will work with a team of researchers, GPs, psychologists, psychiatrists, and decision-makers to improve mental healthcare delivery.

Candidates must have a background in social sciences, statistics, or econometrics, with experience in health-related research or a health professional background at the master’s level. Strong academic background and English language skills are required. Preferred criteria include knowledge of the healthcare sector in Norway, experience in mental healthcare, and proficiency in statistical analysis tools like STATA or R.

The position offers a salary of NOK 532,200 per annum, with a 3-year employment period. Candidates must be admitted to the PhD program in Medicine and Health Sciences and participate in an organized PhD program. The application deadline is 20th May 2024.
