Western Michigan University’s College of Education and Human Development Recognized for Top Online Master’s in Education Programs
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University’s College of Education and Human Development has once again been acknowledged for offering one of the best online master’s in education programs in the country. In the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Online Master’s in Education Programs rankings, the college tied for second in the state and ranked No. 73 in the nation.
Dr. Laura Dinehart, dean of the College of Education and Human Development, expressed her pride in the achievement, stating, “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our faculty, the quality of our curriculum, and our commitment to providing exceptional online education opportunities. We are honored to be acknowledged for our efforts in delivering excellence in graduate education.”
The ranking was determined based on various indicators, with engagement being the highest considered factor. Western’s online master’s in education programs prioritize student engagement and success, creating a collaborative environment for aspiring teachers and administrators to interact with instructors and peers easily.
In addition to the overall ranking, the College of Education and Human Development also received a top ranking for Best Online Master’s in Education Programs for Veterans. The college was the only institution in Michigan to be ranked and placed No. 23 in the nation. The ranking considered not only the quality of the programs but also how accessible institutions made financial benefits available to veterans.

Western Michigan University has a history of supporting veteran students, with previous recognition from the military community, including being named on Military Time’s Best for Vets list of universities.
