The Wartburg volleyball team has once again proven that they excel both on and off the court. The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today that the 2023 Wartburg volleyball team has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 10th-straight year and 18th time overall.
This prestigious award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. More than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball teams have earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award this season, showcasing the dedication and hard work of student-athletes both on and off the court.
“We are pleased that the record-setting success of the 2023-24 season on the court has extended to the classroom, too,” says AVCA CEO Dr. Jaime Gordon. “This is a great example of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their full potential as both students and athletes.”
INTENT, a digital platform that links student-athletes to a network of candidate-seeking employers, is sponsoring the award for the first time this year. The company aims to guide student-athletes towards professional and personal success in life after sports.
The AVCA, with a mission to advance the sport of volleyball, represents over 9,500 collegiate, professional, high school, club, and youth volleyball coaches. The association works to increase exposure and recognition for the sport of volleyball, with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
The Wartburg volleyball team’s continued success in the classroom exemplifies their dedication to excellence both on and off the court. Congratulations to the team on this impressive achievement!
