Warangal hosts one-week FDP on ‘Quantum Enabled Science and Technology’

The Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS) in Warangal kicked off a one-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled ‘Quantum Enabled Science and Technology-QUEST-2024’ on Monday. The program, in collaboration with the Centre for Training and Learning (CTL) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), aims to provide faculty members with advanced knowledge and skills in quantum science and technology.

Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, Head of the Department of Physical Sciences and FDP Convenor, highlighted that the initiative falls under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) Scheme, established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The FDP will focus on key areas such as quantum computing, molecular simulation, nanomaterials, solar cells, nanophotonics, medical IoT devices, energy storage materials, and quantum transportation in nano-electronic devices. Dr. Chary emphasized the importance of continuous learning and upskilling for educators to effectively teach quantum-enabled technologies, stating that integrating Quantum AI into the curriculum is crucial for modern engineering education.

The primary goal of the FDP is to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to incorporate quantum science and technologies into their teaching, research, and professional development. Dr. Chary highlighted seven essential skills of quantum mechanics, including Quantum Seeing, Thinking, Feeling, Knowing, Acting, Trusting, and Being, as well as Quantum Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The program aims to empower faculty members to stay abreast of the latest advancements in quantum science and technology, ultimately enhancing their teaching capabilities and contributing to the field of quantum-enabled technologies.
