TV fans express surprise as a huge US star is seen on a regular UK holiday in Plymouth, exclaiming “That was definitely not on my bingo card!”

Vanessa Williams surprised fans by taking a holiday in Plymouth while starring in The Devil Wears Prada musical. She explored local attractions and experienced the area as a tourist, sharing a hilarious TikTok of herself walking along the beach. Fans were stunned to see her in the city, with one user commenting on running into “THIS QUEEN.” Vanessa, known for her successful career in music, Broadway, and TV, announced earlier this year that she would be starring in Elton John’s The Devil Wears Prada West End adaption as Miranda Priestly. The role was originally played by Meryl Streep in the 2006 movie, and the show runs from July to October in the UK. Throughout her career, Vanessa has been in a number of Broadway shows and TV series, including Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives.

Vanessa plays Miranda Priestly in the show

She made the most of her time off by exploring local attractions and experiencing the area as a tourist.

Sharing a hilarious TikTok of herself walking along the beach, she told the camera: “So I’ve heard back in the States it’s a ‘brat summer,’ but here in Plymouth, it’s a ‘h*e summer.'”

Fans were stunned to see Vanessa in the city, with one user commenting, “Imagine just strolling through Plymouth and running into THIS QUEEN! I would die!”

After being crowned Miss America in the late 80s, Vanessa has enjoyed a successful career.

She went on to release her biggest hit, Save The Best For Last, in 1991, before performing on Broadway and as Wilhelmina Slater in TV show Ugly Betty, which aired in 2006.

Her platinum single Colors of the Wind from Disney’s Pocahontas won the Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe for Best Original Song in 1995.

Earlier this year Vanessa announced that she would be starring in Elton John’s The Devil Wears Prada West End adaption as Miranda Priestly.

The role was originally played by Meryl Streep in the 2006 movie, which also starred Anne Hathaway as Miranda’s assistant Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs.

The runs from July to October in the UK, kicking off at Plymouth Theatre before arriving at London’s Dominion Theatre.

Throughout her career, Vanessa has been in a number of Broadway shows, including a Tony-nominated performance in Into the Woods in 2002 and Horton Foote’s in 2013.

The popular star has also enjoyed a TV career.

As well as Ugly Betty, she also starred as Renee Perry in Desperate Housewives from 2010 to 2012.
