The Streaming Innovation Alliance Welcomes Six New Members
The Streaming Innovation Alliance (SIA), a coalition of major direct-to-consumer services, has recently expanded its ranks by adding six new platforms to its membership. The alliance, which was established in September 2023 and already includes industry giants like Netflix, Disney, and Paramount+, has welcomed Demand Africa, FedNet, In The Black Network, Radiant Technologies, SkinsPlex Native America On Line, and TVEI Network as its newest members.
These new additions are expected to bring a diverse range of content to the alliance, including live coverage of the US Congress and storytelling from African and Native American perspectives. The primary goal of the SIA is to advocate for policies at both the federal and state levels that support and benefit the streaming industry as a whole.
Charles Rivkin, chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association, which helped organize the SIA, expressed his excitement about the new members, stating, “SIA’s new members embody the unique, diverse options and qualities that make streaming so popular. We’re proud to welcome each of them to SIA’s ranks and look forward to working together telling streaming’s story to policymakers and the public across the country.”
Former Republican Rep. Fred Upton and former Democratic acting FCC chair Mignon Clyburn serve as senior advisers for the coalition, providing valuable insights and guidance on industry-related matters. In addition to advocating for new policies, the SIA also focuses on educating lawmakers about the differences between human-curated professional streaming services and user-generated content platforms and social media.
The alliance recently hosted a Meet the Streamers event in Washington D.C., which featured an NCAA basketball watch party to showcase the live sports offerings available on streaming platforms. Looking ahead, the SIA plans to hold an online event this summer to delve into the technology behind streaming services, further highlighting the innovation and advancements in the industry.
