The largest science and technology event in Shanghai is right around the corner

The 10th China (Shanghai) International Technology Import and Export Fair is set to showcase cutting-edge products and technologies from 28 companies and organizations, with a focus on energy and low-carbon, digital technology, and biomedicine sectors.

Scheduled to open on June 12 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, the fair will feature nearly 40 themed activities and an exhibition area of 35,000 square meters, with about 1,000 exhibitors from both domestic and international markets.

Among the highlights of this year’s fair are seven technology zones, including new-energy equipment, green transport, commercial codes, large models and service robots, embedded systems, digital manufacturing, pharmaceutical technology, and biotechnology.

Notable exhibitors will include Vertaxi, which debuted its electric vertical take-off and landing manned vehicle, the MI, at last year’s fair. This year, emerging areas such as commercial passwords, low-altitude economy, and embedded systems will see an increase in display area, with over 60 relevant exhibitors expected to participate.

According to Zhou Lan, deputy director of the Commission of Commerce, the fair has become a crucial platform for expanding China’s technology network and providing foreign companies with opportunities to establish a presence in the country. Tesla, for example, made its China debut at the fair in 2014.

To further facilitate business opportunities, a global supply and demand matchmaking platform called InnoMatch will be introduced at the fair, along with various other business matchmaking activities.

In 2023, the total amount of import and export contracts in Shanghai reached US$18.13 billion, with export contracts amounting to US$12.8 billion, according to Zhu Min, director of the Shanghai Commission of Commerce. The city’s technology import and export contracts have been growing steadily, with an average annual rate of 5.8 percent since 2021.

With a focus on innovation and collaboration, the 10th China (Shanghai) International Technology Import and Export Fair promises to be a dynamic platform for showcasing the latest advancements in technology and fostering international partnerships.
