The Supreme Court has directed the State Bank of India (SBI) to disclose details of bonds purchased and redeemed by political parties by March 12. The court also asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to make public details of electoral bonds as submitted by SBI by March 15. The court was hearing an application from the State Bank of India, seeking more time to file information on electoral bonds. A Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh has challenged the appointment of two election commissioners by the government in the Supreme Court, citing a 2023 judgment.
In other news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 112 National Highway projects worth about Rs 1 trillion. The projects include the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, aimed at improving traffic flow and easing congestion between Delhi and Gurugram. The 19-km-long Haryana section of the 8-lane expressway has been built at a cost of around Rs 4,100 crore and will provide direct connectivity to the IGI Airport in Delhi and the Gurugram Bypass.
Meanwhile, South African Cheetah ‘Gamini’ has given birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur, bringing the total number of Indian-born Cheetah cubs to 13. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav made the announcement on Sunday.
