Former President Donald Trump has made a bold move in his bid for the U.S. leadership by announcing his choice for vice president – crypto-friendly Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio). In a statement on social media app TruthSocial, Trump praised Vance’s successful business career in Technology and Finance, as well as his focus on American Workers and Farmers in key states.
Vance, whose odds of being nominated for vice president on prediction market platform Polymarket stood at 70%, has been a favorite among leaders in the crypto space for his efforts to bring clearer legislation. He recently drafted a bill aimed at revamping how the U.S. regulates digital assets, which sources say is even more crypto-friendly than a bill passed by the House in June.
While North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio were also considered as potential running mates for Trump, they were reportedly informed on Monday that they were no longer in the running. Vance, who has not disclosed any recent cryptocurrency transactions, did disclose holdings of between $100,000 and $250,000 in 2022.
This announcement has sparked excitement and speculation among political and crypto enthusiasts alike, as Trump continues to shake up the political landscape with his unconventional choices. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
