Mr Ng Chad-Son to Take Over as Chief Executive of Defence Science and Technology Agency
In an exciting development, Mr Ng Chad-Son is set to take over as the Chief Executive of the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) on 15 May 2024. He will be succeeding Mr Mervyn Tan Wei Ming, who has been in the role since 2021.
During his tenure, Mr Tan has made significant strides in enhancing the capabilities of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). Under his leadership, DSTA has seen advancements in various domains, including the development of submarines, helicopters, armored vehicles, surveillance systems, and digital capabilities.
Mr Tan has also played a key role in expanding DSTA’s global network of partners and investing in people development and innovation within the organization. His contributions have strengthened DSTA’s position as a leading employer in the fields of science, technology, and engineering.
As the incoming CE DSTA, Mr Ng brings with him a wealth of experience in leading transformation efforts within MINDEF’s defense technology community. He has a strong background in research and development planning and investments, with a focus on developing indigenous capabilities.
Mr Ng’s previous appointments include Director of Military Intelligence and Chief of Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Intelligence in the SAF. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University.
