Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour is facing a crisis as the rapper struggles to sell out any dates for the second leg of her North American tour, with thousands of unsold tickets still available. Despite the success of the first leg of the tour, Minaj announced additional arena shows for September, following the current UK and European leg. The tour is set to wrap up in Queens on October 11, but sales have been slower compared to the initial phase, despite breaking records as the highest-grossing rap tour by a woman. Minaj recently faced controversy after being held by Dutch police in Amsterdam, live-streaming her own arrest and accusing the airline of trying to sabotage her tour.

Minaj announced last month that her trek is expected to continue in September, two months after the current final stop in Liège, Belgium on July 14.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, she wrote: “The first U.S. leg of the [‘Pink Friday 2 World Tour’] was SO SUCCESSFUL, I was offered a second leg beginning in SEPTEMBER. Sign up now, and [tickets] will go on sale in a few more days.”
The Barbie World singer will begin phase 2 of her North American tour in Philadelphia ahead of concerts in Pittsburgh, New York, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and other cities.
The tour is scheduled to wrap up in Queens on October 11.
Tickets became available to the general public on May 31 but sales have been slower compared to the successful first phase, with thousands of seats still available.
In April, it was announced that the Pink Friday 2 World Tour broke records as the highest-grossing rap tour by a woman and placed in the top 10 highest-grossing rap tours overall.
Minaj hopped on Instagram to share her gratitude for her dedicated fans.
Nicki Minaj ‘arrested’ in Amsterdam after filming herself in dispute with airport crew member as fans beg ‘Free Nicki’
“We made female rap history as of today with how many sold-out shows and how much, you know, how many shows that have grossed over 2 million,” she said in a video.
“So, I just wanna thank everybody that’s been coming out.
“I never in my wildest dreams woulda thought that this tour—I mean, I did keep saying it’s gonna be this it’s gonna be that, but let me tell you something, the other component I didn’t factor in was you guys. Your energy.”
It comes after the singer stopped her Manchester gig 30 minutes before she was due on stage after being held by Dutch police.
Minaj live-streamed her own arrest while at Amsterdam Airport after being accused of “carrying drugs” with her on the plane – something the singer has denied.
She accused the employees of forcing her to send her bags through security a second time.
Capturing the incident, Minaj was then told she needed to go to the police station where she spent hours under investigation.
She later messaged fans on X (previously Twitter) to apologise.
The US star wrote: “Thank you to everyone who prayed for me today. May God cover you & all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination.
“I’m at the stock exchange hotel in Manchester I arrived a little over an hour ago.
“After sitting in a jail cell for 5-6 hours, my plane still didn’t take off for another 20 mins once I boarded.”
She then promised a new date for the Manchester concert which took place on June 3.
Nicki Minaj accuses airline of ‘trying to sabotage’ 2024 tour
The singer was due to perform at the Co-op Live on May 25 but the show was called off last minute as Minaj was kept in custody in Amsterdam for hours.
She captured the whole arrest on her phone to which she posted online.
Minaj captioned the Instagram post: “They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show.
“They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now saying, they’re waiting on customs.”
“This is what it looks like when ppl are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal,” she claimed.
