Live Updates: Election 2024 Campaign Trail Updates

President Joe Biden is pushing back against mounting criticism from within his own party by making more unscripted appearances and engaging in off-the-cuff conversations. In a call to MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday, Biden defiantly declared that he wasn’t going anywhere and dismissed calls for his resignation as coming from the “elite.”

During the call, Biden offered a somewhat confusing response to a question about his letter to Hill Democrats calling for unity, taking a jab at former President Donald Trump for his golfing habits. Despite the criticism, Biden emphasized that he has been actively engaging with voters across the country and that the data shows that the majority of Democrats still support him as the nominee.

When asked about his response to a question about how he would feel if Trump won in January, Biden reiterated that as long as he gave it his all and did the best job he could, that’s what matters. He brushed off concerns about his answer not being satisfactory, stating that he has not lost to Trump and calling him a liar who hasn’t accomplished anything since the debate.

In response to concerns about his performance in the presidential debate, Biden pointed to his career and stated that he has not had many off nights. He reassured voters that they can trust in his experience and track record.

As Biden faces increasing scrutiny and calls for his resignation, his willingness to engage in unscripted conversations and defend his record may help to quell concerns about his age and ability to lead.
