The summer sports season at Laguna Beach High School has been full of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming fall sports programs. From basketball to water polo, the athletes have been putting in the work to prepare for the upcoming season.
In basketball, the boys’ squad had a successful summer with a 15-9 record, while the girls’ team made it to the championship of the summer El Toro tournament, although they fell short to Trabuco Hills with a score of 56-50.
Water polo is also in full swing, with the Junior Olympics currently underway in the Palo Alto area. The boys’ competition took place from July 20 to July 23, while the girls’ competition will be held from July 25 to July 28. Stay tuned for a report on the results next week.
Looking ahead to the fall sports season, there are exciting programs in store for Cross Country, Girls Golf, Boys Sand Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Boys Water Polo, and Girls Volleyball. Coaches are gearing up for the start of the season, with the first meets and matches scheduled for late August.
In addition, the Laguna Beach football program is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. The program has had its ups and downs over the years, including a challenging period from 1988 to 2005 known as the “Dark” Era. Despite the struggles, the program persevered and eventually found success with the formation of the Orange Coast League in 2006.
As the summer sports season comes to a close, the Laguna Beach High School athletes are ready to hit the ground running for the fall sports programs. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting games ahead.
