Kings handle Blackhawks with ease – Daily News

LOS ANGELES — The Kings continued their winning ways on Tuesday night, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 at Crypto.com Arena. The victory not only padded their stats but also secured two crucial points for the team as they push towards the playoffs.

Captain Anze Kopitar led the charge for the Kings, scoring two goals and adding an assist in the game. Kopitar’s impressive performance leaves him just one point shy of reaching 1,200 career points, a milestone that only 51 other players in NHL history have achieved.

In addition to Kopitar’s stellar play, Alex Laferriere, Vladislav Gavrikov, Phillip Danault, and Trevor Lewis also found the back of the net for the Kings. Goaltender Cam Talbot made 22 saves to secure his 21st win of the season.

Despite a slow start, the Kings were able to take control of the game in the second period, scoring four goals to put the Blackhawks out of reach. The team’s penalty kill unit also performed well, successfully killing off three of Chicago’s four power plays.

Kopitar’s standout performance earned him praise from his teammates and interim head coach Jim Hiller. Hiller emphasized the importance of getting the two points in a tight playoff race and commended Kopitar for stepping up when the team needed him.

The Kings will look to continue their winning streak as they face off against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena. With the playoffs in sight, every point is crucial for the Kings as they aim to secure a spot in the postseason.
