The West Virginia University baseball team has been facing a season filled with injuries, but that hasn’t stopped them from dominating on the field. Despite key players like JJ Wetherholt, Logan Suave, and Grant Hussey missing significant numbers of games due to injuries, the Mountaineers have shown incredible resilience and determination.
Their recent victory over the nation’s No. 17 team, Central Florida, with an 11-10 walk-off home run by Reed Chumley in the 11th inning, marked their seventh consecutive Big 12 win. With Wetherholt and Suave back in the lineup, the team is firing on all cylinders and currently tied for first place in the Big 12.
Coach Randy Mazey praised the team’s ability to bounce back from setbacks and stay focused on the next game. Despite facing injuries and tough losses, the Mountaineers have maintained a positive attitude and a “short memory” when it comes to defeats.
The team’s resilience and determination have been key factors in their success this season, and with key players returning to the lineup, they are poised to continue their winning streak. The Mountaineers have proven that they can overcome any obstacle and come out on top, making them a force to be reckoned with in the Big 12.
