Budget carrier IndiGo has been named as the ‘Airline of the Year’ at the prestigious Air Transport Awards 2024 held in Athens, Greece. The award recognizes IndiGo’s outstanding performance and growth in the aviation industry.
With a fleet of over 350 aircraft, IndiGo is the largest airline in India in terms of market share. The airline operates around 2000 daily flights, connecting over 85 domestic destinations and more than 30 international destinations. In 2023, IndiGo became the first Indian carrier to carry 100 million passengers in a year, solidifying its position as one of the fastest-growing airlines in the world.
Accepting the award, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers dedicated the honor to the hard work and dedication of the airline’s 35,000 employees. He emphasized IndiGo’s commitment to providing affordable fares, on-time flights, and a hassle-free travel experience for passengers.
The Air Transport Awards, organized in partnership with Hermes – Air Transport Organisation and ATN – Air Transport News, aim to recognize and celebrate excellence in the aviation sector. Winners are selected through a combination of reader votes and input from international aviation experts.
