Ishpeming Girls’ Basketball Team Dominates Carney-Nadeau in Regional Semifinal

In a thrilling Division 4 regional semifinal matchup on Monday, the Ishpeming girls’ basketball team showcased their dominance as they defeated Carney-Nadeau with a final score of 79-46 at Kingsford High School.

The game started off with a close battle, with Ishpeming holding a slim 24-19 lead at halftime. However, the Hematites came out strong in the third quarter, extending their lead to 21 points and never looking back.

Head coach Ryan Reichel praised his team’s depth and ability to wear down their opponents, crediting their success to their relentless press and defensive efforts.

Looking ahead, the Hematites are gearing up for a showdown with Ewen-Trout Creek on Wednesday at Marquette Senior High School. Coach Reichel is optimistic about their chances and hopes to bring home the trophy.

On the other side, Carney-Nadeau head coach Jacob Polfus commended his players for their effort and resilience throughout the game. Despite the loss, he emphasized the importance of cherishing the memories and camaraderie built throughout the season.

Senior Samantha Kedsch and junior Grace Maule led the Wolves in scoring, but it was not enough to overcome Ishpeming’s balanced offensive attack. Jenna Maki shined for the Hematites, finishing as the game’s leading scorer with 16 points.

As the season comes to an end for Carney-Nadeau, Coach Polfus encouraged his players to reflect on their hard work and dedication, reminding them that giving their all is the ultimate victory.

Overall, the Ishpeming girls’ basketball team’s impressive performance and teamwork have solidified their spot in the next round of the playoffs, setting the stage for an exciting matchup against Ewen-Trout Creek.
