Tel Aviv University Unveils State-of-the-Art Nanotechnology Building
Tel Aviv University is making waves in the world of nanotechnology with the unveiling of its new three-floor, 8,000-square-meter home for the Jan Koum Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. According to Prof. Tal Dvir, director of the center, “Nanotechnology is the future of basically everything. It’s the future of medicine, energy, and computing. Everything is done with the smallest building blocks.”
The Abramovich Building for Nano and Quantum Science & Technology is set to revolutionize nanotechnology research in Israel and at TAU. With advanced, state-of-the-art facilities, the building is designed to cater to the next generation of researchers. The ground floor boasts the largest clean room in Israel, along with areas for the fabrication and characterization of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies.
The building will host thirty scientists working on solutions using nanotechnology, drawing from various disciplines such as engineering, exact sciences, life sciences, and medical sciences. Additionally, researchers from universities and companies in the nanotechnology industry will utilize the facilities to develop new technologies.
Some of the groundbreaking research being conducted at TAU includes a nanobot project targeting cancerous cells and a project to enable blind people to see by integrating devices with the retina. The new nanotechnology building has received generous support from donors, whose named facilities will be unveiled this spring.
Overall, the new building is expected to energize TAU’s nano research community, foster multidisciplinary research and innovation, strengthen industry collaboration, and bridge the gap between the scientific world and society.
