Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation to Open Doors to Public for the First Time

OTTAWA, ON, May 23, 2024 /CNW/ – Exciting news for science and history enthusiasts as Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation is gearing up to open its doors to the public for the very first time on Saturday, June 1, 2024. This special event, part of Doors Open Ottawa, will provide visitors with unprecedented access to the national collection, offering a glimpse into the wonders of one of the most unique collections in the world.

The three museums under Ingenium – the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum – typically display only about 12 percent of the total collection at any given time. The remaining objects are housed in the Ingenium Centre, which will be open to the public during this event.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Ingenium Centre, delve into the expansive Library and Archives, learn about the Digital Innovation Lab and Research Institute, and engage with a team of curatorial and conservation experts. The collection at the Ingenium Centre focuses on areas of transportation, physical sciences, medicine, communications, agriculture, and natural resources, boasting more than two million archival materials and over 150,000 objects.

Tours of the Ingenium Centre will be self-guided on June 1, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Advanced ticketing is required for this unique experience, which promises to be a 60 to 90-minute journey through Canada’s rich scientific and technological history.
