Local Taunton Resident Joe DeVlaeminck Takes Over Tom Bofferding Construction, Launches Concrete Joe Construction
After 18 years of honing his skills in the construction industry, Taunton resident Joe DeVlaeminck has taken a leap of faith and become a business owner. Last year, DeVlaeminck purchased the former Tom Bofferding Construction company and rebranded it as Concrete Joe Construction, specializing in residential concrete work.
DeVlaeminck expressed his excitement for the new venture, stating that the company had a successful first year and is already gearing up for new projects in the spring. Despite the initial stress of going into business on his own, DeVlaeminck shared that he has thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Having graduated from Minneota High School in 2005 and pursued carpentry in college, DeVlaeminck found his true passion in working with concrete during his time with Tom Bofferding. He eventually became a foreman and, when Bofferding decided to retire, saw an opportunity to fulfill his dream of starting his own business.
With the help of the Southwest Initiative Foundation’s Microenterprise Loan Program, DeVlaeminck was able to complete the purchase of the company and retain the same crew that had been with Tom Bofferding Construction. The business, which is based in Taunton, serves the same customers as before and focuses on residential concrete work, including footings, foundations, floors, sidewalks, and even decorative stamped concrete.
DeVlaeminck emphasized the importance of quality work and customer satisfaction in his new role as a business owner. Despite the challenges that come with starting a business, he expressed his enjoyment of the autonomy and responsibility that come with being his own boss.
As Concrete Joe Construction continues to grow and take on new projects, DeVlaeminck remains grateful for the opportunity to pursue his passion and build a successful business in the Marshall area.
