ChristianaCare Ranked No. 1 in Delaware by U.S. News & World Report

ChristianaCare, a leading healthcare provider in Delaware, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a High Performing hospital for 13 conditions and two procedures in its 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings. This prestigious designation is the highest distinction a hospital can earn in the Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.

In addition to being ranked as the No. 1 hospital in Delaware, ChristianaCare is also tied for the No. 5 hospital in the greater Philadelphia region, which is home to more than 80 hospitals. This recognition highlights the exceptional care and commitment to quality and safety that patients receive at ChristianaCare.

One patient, Glenna Matthews, is now cancer-free after receiving treatment for gynecological cancer at ChristianaCare using robotic technology. Another patient, Everett Lacy, recovered from two strokes with acute care and rehabilitation at the hospital, with the help of dedicated caregivers like speech language pathologist Bridget DiMaio and occupational therapist Bridget Callahan.

The U.S. News & World Report Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and healthcare providers in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures. The rankings are based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and level of nursing care.

ChristianaCare was ranked as High Performing in care for conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), gynecological cancer surgery, leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The recognition encompasses both of ChristianaCare’s Delaware hospitals—Wilmington Hospital and Christiana Hospital.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions to determine the Best Hospitals rankings. Hospitals awarded a Best designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care, and patient experience.

Overall, this recognition by U.S. News & World Report highlights ChristianaCare’s expertise and commitment to patient well-being, making it a top choice for healthcare in the region.
