Baylor Proud: Baylor Ranks in Top 10 for Best ‘Learning Communities’ in U.S. News

Baylor’s Residential Communities Ranked Among Top 10 in the Nation

Baylor University’s commitment to providing a vibrant and engaging living experience for its students has been recognized by U.S. News, which recently ranked Baylor’s learning communities among the top 10 in the nation. This prestigious honor places Baylor just behind renowned institutions like Yale, Michigan, and Princeton, solidifying its position as a leader in residential life among universities.

Dr. Rob Engblom, Baylor’s associate director for resident learning, emphasized the university’s dedication to helping students succeed and feel welcome within their residential communities. From traditional freshman residence halls to faculty-led residential colleges, Baylor offers a diverse range of options for students to choose from based on their interests and academic pursuits.

First-Year Communities like Collins and Penland provide first-year students with the opportunity to live with peers who have different interests and majors. Upper-Division Community at University Parks offers a similar experience but with the amenities of apartment living. Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) cater to students with specific academic programs or extracurricular interests, fostering a sense of community and shared experiences.

Residential Colleges, led by faculty members, promote academic excellence through close faculty-student interaction. Students living in Baylor’s Residential Colleges benefit from a unique sense of community through special events and activities that facilitate connections with peers and faculty.

What sets Baylor apart from other institutions is its commitment to providing a tight-knit community despite its size. While most schools in the top 25 have either larger resources or smaller undergraduate populations, Baylor stands out as a medium-sized institution with a strong sense of community. The university’s top-five recognition for the “first-year experience” and its rare top-25 ranking for undergraduate teaching and research further highlight Baylor’s exceptional offerings.

With its distinct place in the world of higher education, Baylor University continues to provide a special and enriching experience for its students. Sic ’em, Bears!
