Michigan Universities Shine in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Global University Rankings
In a recent report by U.S. News and World Report, three Michigan universities have been recognized as some of the best in the world. The 2024-2025 Best Global University rankings evaluated 2,271 institutions worldwide based on various factors such as research reputation, publication citations, international collaboration, and more.
The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor secured the 19th spot globally, excelling in multiple categories including arts and humanities, biology and biochemistry, clinical medicine, economics and business, and more. Its regional research reputation also ranked in the top 5, solidifying its position as a leading research institution.
Michigan State University also made its mark, ranking 123rd globally. The university’s education and educational research program stood out internationally, as did its plant and animal science department. With a top 50 ranking in the U.S. and 63rd internationally, Michigan State University continues to be a powerhouse in research and academia.
Wayne State University in Detroit rounded out the trio, coming in at 466th place worldwide. Together, these three universities form the University Research Corridor, which generated an impressive $24 billion in economic impact through research and innovation last year.
