In the midst of a challenging period for the fast food industry, McDonald’s has launched a new $5 value meal in an effort to attract customers and boost sales. The meal deal, which includes a choice of a McDouble or McChicken, 4 piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries, and a small soft drink, is set to roll out on June 25 at participating locations.
McDonald’s President of USA, Joe Erlinger, expressed the company’s commitment to providing affordable options for customers, stating, “Value has always been part of our DNA. We’re focused on living up to that legacy and offering delicious, affordable options customers can enjoy any time they walk through our doors, go through our drive thru or place an order through our app.”
In addition to the $5 Meal Deal, McDonald’s app users can also take advantage of “Free Fries Friday,” where they can receive free medium fries with a $1 minimum purchase. Local franchises across the country are also offering their own deals, such as buy-one-get-one-for-$1 breakfast sandwiches in Memphis, Tennessee, and a McChicken and McDouble mix-and-match deal for $3.99 in Western New York.
The move comes as McDonald’s leaders, including CEO Chris Kempczinski, emphasize the importance of affordability for customers in the face of rising prices across the industry. With consumers becoming more discerning with their spending, McDonald’s is aiming to provide value and attract customers with enticing deals.
As the fast food price wars heat up, McDonald’s $5 value meal is sure to make a splash in the industry and draw in hungry customers looking for a tasty and affordable meal option.
